Medical Malpractice Claims Against Nurses
The Nurses Service Organization (NSO) has released its 2015 claims report.Ā NSO collects data every year including claims against nurses, their areas of practice and how the claim is resolved. Of 549 claims against nurses last year that were closed, 88.5% involved RNās while 11.5% involved LPNās.Ā This is interesting because this is almost the same ratio of the number of practicing RNs to LPNs.Ā NSO paid almost an astounding $90.4-million in malpractice claims against nurses.
