You read, we listened. I have put together a list of the top blogs that you have read. If you missed any of them, you’ll be able to again check them out.
Leading our list with the 9th top blog is “My View on The View.” Who could forget the remark about “that thingy around her neck” when one of the members of the TV program “The View” commented on a monologue by a Miss America contestant this past year. Nurses need to unite to improve the perception of nursing. The View hosts were mistaken which means that other members of the public must be mistaken as well.

At number 8 on our blog list is “Every Nurse Needs a Mentor.” And this is so true because no matter where we are in our practice, a mentor can always help us get to the next level and possible\y see things that we ourselves don’t always see.

The 7th blog on our list is “Know Your Professional Boundaries.” As nurses, we develop a special relationship with our clients but we must always keep in mind that the relationship needs to remain a professional and end after the patient care ends. However, nurses are nice and helpful in wanting to maintain a relationship but, simply put, you cannot. This blog shows where and when to set those boundaries.

Number 6 on our list is titled “5 Ways to Lose Your Nursing License” which discusses ways that you may not have considered which could lead to the loss of your license.

Number 5 is the blog titled “What Happens If I Get Written Up.” This common question for nurses provides for things to know ahead of time to help should you be the subject of a write up.

At number 4: “Three Tips to Keeping Your Nursing License Safe.” This blog detailed 3 simple ways to protect your license of which you may not have thought.

Number 3 on the list is “Can a Nurse’s License Be Revoked for Medication Error?” The request to make Samuel’s Law arose in 2015. The proposed law is named for a child who succumbed to a medication overdose as the result of a nurse who made a mistake in calculating the dosage. The proposed legislation is fraught with all kinds of issues because if it were enacted, there would be no due process for the nurse and her license would automatically be revoked. The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (http://www.TAANA.org) is in the process of writing a position paper in the event there is an attempt to reintroduce Samuel’s Law.

Runner up is “The Pros and Cons of Nurses Unions.” In 2015, one of our major medical systems in Indiana attempted to unionize. As with anything, there are pros and cons to unions which are discussed in this article.

And the top blog is “Why Do Nurses Eat Their Young?” I absolutely love this article because for nurses to be empowered, we must stick together. If we are not mentoring the latest arrivals to the nursing profession, how can we improve our profession?
