Personal Appearance for APN License
Posted by anonymous
I was asked to make a personal appearance before the State Board of Nursing for answering “no” to the questions regarding previous arrests or criminal charges, on my APN application, for an incident that I had thought was expunged from my record. I found this out about a month before I was to be married, and the personal appearance date was set for the week my new husband and I were supposed to be on our honeymoon! I was devastated by this news because it came as a complete shock to me that the incident was still on my record. Also, I was devastated by the thought that approval of my APN license was at risk after all of the years of work I had put into it.
I was at risk of losing the new job that I had been offered because the delay in obtaining my license would not allow me to make the start date that had been agreed upon. Because of this, I could not push back the date of the appearance before the State Board any further, and I was prepared to cancel my honeymoon to attend.
I contacted Lorie to seek counsel because my APN license was far too important to risk being placed on probation, or not approved at all, for something that was a simple misunderstanding on my part. Lorie not only helped me through the process of preparing for the State Board meeting, but she was able to appeal to the board and get them to agree to move my appearance forward 2 weeks so that it would be over before my wedding, and I could go on my honeymoon as scheduled! This is something that I would not have been able to accomplish without Lorie’s help.
At the State Board meeting, Lorie was there to appear with me, which added some reassurance. The result of the appearance was the recommendation that my license be granted “free and clear.” It was an immense relief to have this out of the way prior to my wedding day so that I could relax and enjoy the day, and we also went on our honeymoon as scheduled! This would not have been possible without Lorie’s help. Employing her services was worth so much more than words can say because she not only helped me through a very difficult time but also prevented this awful situation from ruining one of the happiest moments in my life that I would never have the opportunity to get back. I highly recommend Lorie’s services!

From our very first and emotional meeting, I felt Lorie and her staff worked to not only represent me, but also to support me at a very difficult time in my nursing career. She educated me regarding what to expect and her specific plans to represent me in my legal proceeding. The “homework” she assigned me prepared me for not only the proceeding for which I hired her, but also for my future in nursing. Lorie and her staff were available and responsive to my questions and needs regarding my case. Her fee was an invaluable investment in resolving my legal issue, as well as my future endeavors in nursing!
A huge blessing in my life!

From the moment I met with Lorie, I felt much more at ease about the unfortunate situation I found myself in. She, as well as her supporting employees, were extremely caring and compassionate and I felt a genuine sense of understanding and concern after describing my situation. Being in a situation where her legal guidance was needed, I felt very alone and that my voice was not being heard. With Lorie’s representation, I was finally able to feel as if I was being heard. She very clearly laid out what was needed from me and what the next steps were in defending my claim. On multiple occasions, my anxiety about the situation was put at ease after speaking with Lorie and having my questions and concerns addressed. She also provided me with very detailed information about the day of my hearing; where to park, where to enter the building, what to wear, and what to expect. I was able to wake up the morning of my hearing feeling prepared and confident in myself and what the day was to bring. I believe that in itself is the most important thing that Lorie provided me through her representation. She is extremely passionate about her work and works hard to advocate for those who spend their careers advocating for others; nurses. I feel an overwhelming sense of happiness paired with thankfulness when I think about locating Lorie. I can honestly and whole heartedly state that I would not have been able to stand up for myself and/or make it through this whole situation without her support and representation. She has been a huge blessing in my life and I will absolutely, without a doubt, recommend her to any nurse I come across in my future needing legal consultation.

In 2014, I found myself in need of legal services. My problem concerned my pharmacist’s license. I went to Lorie Brown of Brown Law Office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ms. Brown took care of the problem completely. She handled all communications with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office, and with the Indiana Board of Pharmacy. I would definitely recommend Ms. Brown for other people with legal problems concerning their licenses.

My Review of My Lawyer.

Lorie Brown is an outstanding lawyer. The first time I called her I was in a crisis and feeling overwhelmed. She calmly gave me important directives that were critical for me to know so that I could do things from the very beginning to help my case. She did this without asking me for any money and explained to me exactly how the process would work and how I would pay her when the time would come to proceed with my case. She was honest and upfront with me about the fee and never once have I been charged more than she told me I would be charged. When that day did finally arrive I was in a critical situation where I could not take any time off work. Lorie met with me outside of my work hours even though it was very inconvenient for her to do so. When I met with Lorie She explained to me what I needed to do and I never felt confused about her directives. She calmly and patiently answered all my questions. It was very evident that she was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I did the things that she asked me to do and she kept me informed every step of the way via phone calls and emails which were my preference. Her responses to my messages and requests were always extremely timely and her secretary was also very professional and efficient. Lorie Is passionate about her work and I would recommend her highly to anyone who needs legal representation.

Lorie helped me during a vulnerable time in my life. It is unfortunate when bad things happen to good people. That’s where Lorie came into my life. She was understanding, sensitive, smart, relative, reasonable and mostly compassionate about her work. She kept me up to date on the events when new information was available and prepared me realistically when it came time to sit in front of the board. She was ready and willing to FIGHT for me. You don’t have to be alone during your journey, nor should you attempt it!
